STEPS IN PROFESSIONAL WRITING.

Most beginners are either too excited or too nervous to start writing their own article, novel or any literary piece. It is not surprising because the world of writing can sometimes be cruel. There will always be criticism and comments and you will have to do everything to sharpen up your skills in writing if you want to be recognized as a pro. For those who wish to learn how to write like a professional writer, then you can follow these basic steps. First thing that you need to do is to check what type of literature you are good in. Do you like writing short stories over long ones? Or maybe you like writing poetry than writing a monologue. In either case, you need to choose which of them you want to study and be an expert with. Don't rush into studying all of them in the same time; you will only end up confusing yourself and wasting your valuable time. Sure, you might say: "Some professional writers can do poetry and novels at the same time ". That is only because those guys have spent so many years practicing each literary art and becoming a pro doesn't have any shortcuts, period. Even if you use all the English software and grammar checkers available today, there isn't a single tool that will make you a good writer in a matter of seconds. Determination is the key. Second thing you need to remember is to gauge your English mastery. This means to check your proficiency with the English language. You certainly don't want to be criticized because of your faulty grammar so you should definitely prepare yourself before deciding to write something. If you want to use jargons or words that are too difficult for normal people, then you might as well check the dictionary to see if there are any other alternate words you can use. People don't like the idea of having to decipher what you have written; most of them would like to read materials which are straight to the point and easy to understand. Using difficult words makes your writing more difficult to read. Next is selecting a topic that is interesting to everyone. Again, you may have to do some research about this so that you can decide which topic is interesting to people. But then again, what is interesting to you may not be interesting at all to other people. Wise writers know about this so they spend months thinking and deciding before their pens start working. If it's summer time, you certainly don't want to write something that is related to winter so use your common sense. That's about it. This isn't the end though as there are still more articles about this particular subject. Always keep in mind that writing is a continuous process. If you really want to be a professional writer, keep on learning and researching new techniques in writing.

WRITING A SPEECH CONCLUSION.

Speeches have goals. A speaker talks in front of the audience because he wants something to happen. It is the goal of the speaker to get the audience to think about a new idea, to get motivated into action, or to sway them to buy a product. The success of the speech is determined by the effect on the people who have just listened to it. It is in the conclusion that the speaker can make sure that he was fully understood. A speech conclusion should be moving and powerful enough to make people do what you want them to do. It should seal the deal. The main goals of the speech conclusion: Making sure that everything was clear It is the point where you are summarizing to the audience what you have just told spoken about in the the body of your speech, making sure the audience is caught up with your key points. People can have very fleeting attentions. They easily forget things. Even the things you may have explained in your speech. Therefore in your conclusions, remind the audience of your key points. Reminding them the things you have shared and promised in your introduction will give the audience an impression that you are a man if your words. You have delivered what you have promised and the audience will feel grateful. Motivate the audience to action The content of the speech can be very stimulating and the points can be emotionally riveting and convincing. Hence, in the conclusion, the speaker should make the audience relive those powerful feelings they had felt. That way the speaker can get off the stage leaving the audience with refreshed sentiments. As what I have stated above the conclusion addresses the audience on a thinking level, but to motivate the audience, you must address them on an emotional level. We are all emotional beings and the actions we take are based on emotions. However, there must be a sufficient rationale to elicit emotions. As a speaker, you have already done that in the middle of your speech -- giving powerful insights causing stirring emotions. It is these feelings that push them to take action. So, let me say it again, make them relive those feelings in the end of your speech. Telling the audience the exact and immediate actions to take Okay, the audience fully understands what you were saying and they are feeling motivated to do something about it. What next? Tell them what to do. You have created a need as a result of your speech and you already made the audience 'feel' this need. Now, is the best time to instruct the audience how to attend to these needs. Like for example, tell them to buy your book or visit your site. It is best to give detailed information, like explaining that they can buy the book just outside the room or give the address of the site and tell them to acquire membership for more useful resources. Make sure to be clear with the actions you'd like them to take.

WRITING A SPEECH INTRODUCTION.

Have you ever wondered how to write a speech introduction that will immediately capture your audience's interest? The speech introduction sets up the central idea of the entire speech. It sets the mood and the focus of the crowd to a particular agenda. The introduction should be catchy, amusing, or thought-provoking. No matter what style you use it must grab the interest of the audience. Failed introductions will often result in setting the tone for a disappointing speech and its very difficult to recover from. Speeches will flow naturally if introductions are pleasantly established. The audience will be ready to give their full attention to what is ahead. The primary goals of making an introduction are to introduce yourself, your topic, and take hold of the audience's curiosity and concentration. It is very important to start things off positively. Introductions are crucial and should be delivered in a powerful manner. Here are some tips and techniques on how to make a smashing and gripping introduction: Start with a very controversial statement Everybody likes controversies. They immediately catch your attention and keep you interested. Controversies are rarely boring and they are great ways to arouse interest from the audience. An interesting historical fact If you know a historical fact relevant to your speech topic, include it in your introduction. However, the information must be very interesting or amazing to say the least. Aim for a 'Wow! Is that true? Did that really happen?' reaction. Give an astonishing statistical fact Lots of people, when given a statistic, will have a surprised reaction because they have not really thought about a particular subject that deeply. Statistics give audience something to visualize and they will be fascinated with the statistical figure you have given. Example stats like these will surely grab your audience interest: Rats multiply so quickly that in 18 months, two rats could have over a million descendants 100% of all lottery winners gain weight 23% of all photocopier faults worldwide are caused by people sitting on them and photocopying their buttocks. Of course, you have got to state facts that may be relevant to the topic of your speech. Humorous anecdote or a hilarious joke Tell me, who doesn't like a good laugh? Humor is a powerful tool in public speaking. If you are able to make people laugh from the very start, success for your speech is in the bag. Humor will create a relaxed atmosphere and relaxed audiences are better listeners. Once your humor is established, the audience will grab to your every word expecting another amusing remark. Rhetorical question Rhetorical questions are thought provoking and they are great openers for any topics. They make your audience want to hear the answers to these questions. Bring a prop Imagine bringing a peculiar object. Slam it on a table and ask the audience what it is. Make sure it is relevant to your speech topic. A quotation This is one of the most common but effective methods nonetheless. Quotations should be inspiring, stimulating, or provocative. They are powerful introduction tools that can bring focus to your speech topic.
